Parker LaMoore
1897-1954

Born Charles Parker LaMoore of French-Irish descent in 1897 at Jamestown, Stutsman County, North Dakota, the son of Doctor Louis Charles LaMoore and Emily Dearborn LaMoore and brother of Louis L'Amour.

By the 1920s Parker was on his way to becoming a successful newspaperman and political aid and living in Washington, DC.

A series of bank failures ruined the economy of the upper Midwest uprooting his parents and brother, Louis and adopted brother, John. The family moved through the southwest in the early 1920s eventually settling in Choctaw, Oklahoma where Parker had purchased a little farm acreage near what is now SE 12 and Choctaw Road.

The Daily Oklahoman, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, newspaper has  numerous articles written by or about Parker LaMoore between 1922-1942.

Feb 22 1924 page 2 Parker is mentioned in news article as "Parker LaMoore, private secretary to Governor [M.E.] Trapp"

May 20 1924 page 8 his name is mentioned in an article about a writing contest.

September 10, 1925 page 1 "LaMoore Says Bribe Charges Wholly False"  - shows LaMoore was in Oklahoma County in 1925.

January 26, 1928 page 5 article - confirms Parker was editor of "My Oklahoma" and quit to take correspondent job.

February 12 1928 page 16  LaMoore Given 'SendOff' Fete - appears Parker was editor of "My Oklahoma", state chamber of commerce publication and is leaving during this time for Washington as special correspondent for The Daily Oklahoman effective February 1928. Many of The Daily Oklahoman news articles in the 1930s carried his name in the by-line.

July 27, 1930 page 20 "Parker LaMoore Washington correspondent for The Daily Oklahoman, has just completed a tour of the state.

October 14 1931 page 9 article stating " Parker LaMoore has written...biography of Pat Hurley, the small town boy who made good in the city...  many articles about the book during this time frame  book titled "From Coal Mine to Cabinet"

1932 he joined the Columbus, Ohio, Bureau of the United Press as a political writer.

June 4 1942 page 2 Parker LaMoore Assigned To Duty At New Orleans - On active duty with the army about two months, Lieut. Parker LaMoore, former political writer for The Daily Oklahoman has been assigned to duty at the port of embarkation in New Orleans. The transfer took him from Washington, D.C. where he once was stationed as correspondent for The Daily Oklahoman and Oklahoma City Times.
