HUMMINGBIRD VINE
aka Cardinal Vine, Cardinal Climber, Cypress Vine and Star Glory Vine

This annual vine is a magnet for hummingbirds!!

Spring means that hummingbirds will soon be returning soon to my garden!

The lacy fern-like foliage is as interesting as the dainty 2 inch red tubular flowers and as attractive for your garden as well as the beautiful hummingbirds.  This rapid growing vine has bright red blooms on delicate fern-like foliage. Vines flower from midsummer to frost. They will climb as tall as the structure you place them near and can reach from 10' to 20' in one season with at least 4 months of those beautiful blooms. Like Morning Glory, the flowers open in the morning and close at night.

Easily grown from seeds that germinate in 14 to 16 days. They sprout from most any type of soil, they are hardy, and are super easy to grow. I live in Zone 7 and my plants seldom emerge before late May.

Once established, they need very little care and yield LOTS AND LOTS of blooms for the butterflies, bumble bees, hummingbirds and, of course, YOU, to enjoy! They grow best in sandy average soil and in full sun or partial shade and have average water needs.

Hummingbird plants are mainly an annual that can be planted outside after the last frost. The plants likes part shade to full sun and will climb on most anything. The vine is perfect for covering a trellis, porch, arbor, fence or a mailbox post. I've also grown them in pots, baskets and as a ground cover. The hummingbird plant is easy to bring down for the winter and in warm areas will reseed returning the next year along with the hummingbirds. I live in Zone 7 and my plants seldom show their little heads before late May.

I have these gorgeous plants in my yard and get to enjoy them and I want you to also.  There's nothing like getting up on a dewy spring morning and sitting on my back porch having a cup of coffee and hearing all the birds tweeting and witnessing the unbelievably colorful hummingbirds on my vines as they are especially attracted to the dark shade of red. You will also be surprised that the bees will pollinate it and the butterflies like it too!  Turn your backyard into a scenic wonderland.

Seeds/Bulbs are a live product which depends on many important related grower skills such as proper planting time, seed depth, type of soil, irrigation, proper use of fertilizers, weed controls, fungicides, insecticides, disease free soil, and reasonable weather conditions during the growing period.

Germination/Growth is affected by such factors as temperature, moisture content, light intensity and contamination of planting media. These factors are totally out of the seller's control and are the buyer's responsibility and risk. Consequentially, the seller cannot unconditionally guarantee seed/Bulbs to perform properly regardless of conditions or the buyer's methods or mistakes.

Please note that some seeds may be prohibited in your area or country, it is up to you to know your local Law and be responsible. Because import regulations vary and can change frequently, we urge you to check with your local authority before placing your order.
